A new guide to ensuring effective fire safety in workplaces where up to 20 people are employed is now available from the British Fire Protection Systems Association (BFPSA).
Since the introduction of the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997, any employer in this size of workplace is deemed responsible for the safety of the employees in the event of a fire. This legislation affects a wide range of premises including offices, shops, and factories.
Although at first site the responsibility seems onerous, it is largely an application of common sense and judgement. The guide has been written with this in mind, using clear and concise instructions in how to deal cost effectively with the requirements imposed. assessing risk, without the need for consultation. It offers a step by step guide to special training or expensive consultation.
The Guide also serves as a record of how the risk assessment has been carried out for validation, if necessary, by the Fire Service.
The Fire Risk Assessment Guide is invaluable to all who are responsible for safety within the work environment.
