At the recent International Fire Expo '99, Kidde Thorn demonstrated how a reliable and cost-effective fire protection solution for multi-site organisations can be achieved.

Using one-on-one demonstrations, Kidde Thorn operation managers showed visitors the way in which information regarding the customer's site and equipment is managed via the service engineer's hand held computer terminal. It is part of the excellent service the company provides to ensure maximum safety and mutual understanding at all times.

Over 100 Kidde Thorn engineers spread across the country visit over 150,000 premises each year to assess fire safety standards, and thanks to the efficiency of the hand held terminals they carry with them, they can offer a one-stop summary of any work that needs to be carried out. The engineer simply inputs data into the terminal and at the end of every maintenance visit, both Kidde Thorn and the customer have a complete, concise print out of the number of units serviced, the tests carried out and any spares and refills used. This benefits both parties; Kidde Thorn have an accessible record of the state of equipment at each site which is refreshed with every visit, while the customer is provided with essential information about fire extinguisher maintenance, and clear guidelines about what action is to be taken in their premises and why.
