Chubb Fire Limited is launching a site on the Internet to provide help and information on fire safety as well as promoting the company's products and services.

"We are committed to improving fire safety and we know that good information is often difficult to find. Our Web site will help to address this need", explained Mr Reg Key, managing director of Chubb Fire Europe.

The Chubb site, which can be found at http://www.chubbfire.co.uk, is one of the first to be launched by the fire industry.

It has been designed so that visitors can quickly home in on their areas of interest. Fire protection information covering products, fire protection systems and services is provided for public buildings, industry and commerce, shops, commercial transport and marine/offshore facilities as well as domestic needs.

The site is interactive, enabling visitors to request a brochure and make online purchases via a secure BT facility. Information about the Chubb Fire company and how to get help or advice is provided along with details of products and services.

The section for the domestic customer provides bullet-point fire safety advice, as well as providing information on products such as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and extinguishers suitable for use in the home, in cars and caravans and on boats.

The "New Horizons" section provides help with new legislation, information on developments in the fire industry and news from Chubb Fire. Current issues dealt with include help on complying with the "self-assessment" aspects of the fire precautions (workplace) Regulations 1997 and fire and safety signage regulations. According to Chubb Fire research, many UK companies still risk prosecution because they have not yet complied with signage regulations.

"As leaders in the industry we must ensure that the methods we use to promote our products and services are innovative and easily accessible", added Mr. Key. "Our Web site provides instant access to useful information for everyone concerned about fire safety and is easy to navigate."
