What's on the web

www.hrimmall.com

The appearance of this site is not particularly inspiring. However, it does contain various articles, news reports, HR resources and job opportunities that are comprehensive and could prove to be quite useful. With an easy to navigate layout and a reasonable amount of detail it is worth ignoring one’s initial impression and actually spending a little time browsing. A book listing of HR material which the site’s creators have recommended is provided on the site along with several free items available for download. A question and answer link is also featured offering answers to various HR queries including those involving legal issues. Overall this site is a useful “internet portal to human resources” as the introduction says.

Useful resource

www.paypershop.com

Available in UK, US and international incarnations, this company focuses on providing resources for HR professionals. The site itself looks rather unstructured and cluttered but the content is extensive. A large amount of the site is directed towards payroll information although much of this is interlinked with HR issues. There is a good forum on the site for discussions with other professionals in this business area. News articles and press releases also feature heavily. The site does seem to put some emphasis on convincing viewers to subscribe to the company; this is free, however, and is not so blatant as to be too irritating. If one does subscribe to the company then it sends out updates and newsletters. There are also links to various tools and calculators provided by other companies some of which are free, others must be bought. This site is definitely a resource worth a look.

Team talk

www.teamhr.co.uk

Team HR offers payroll and administration, HR outsourcing, and recruitment services. In addition to this training facilities are available along with occupational health and psychological assessment services. With a well put together and easy to use layout the site itself is very slick and professional, providing all necessary information without appearing over-crowded. Although no generic information is supplied on the website, the information offered about the company and the services available is comprehensive and concise. Also offered is the option to sign up to receive their free newsletter that is sent out in PDF format. If one is looking for a company to assist with any personnel, recruitment, training or general HR issues, this company could be worth researching.

Pay as you go

www.humanresourcesclick.net

“HRClick was designed to provide help and information concerning the employment of workers to businesses that do not benefit from their own HR team.” Mainly concerned with legal issues, this site provides various articles and news regarding HR as well as information about the company itself. Unfortunately a large part of the site is only accessible to members; membership charges apply to use these areas and the amount that the company charges is not listed anywhere. However the information that is available is quite useful, a questions and answers page is provided with common FAQs along with a quick questionnaire to check your company covers its legal obligations. The articles available for free viewing are informative; several links to other relevant sites are also supplied.

Well worth it

www.einnews.com

This magazine style website deals with information concerning global human resources news along with copious amounts of other business news. Masses of reports are provided on the site concerning pretty much every industry sector one could think of. Different regions of the site can be selected through the on site search engine depending on the country and industry one wishes to research. This search engine is an excellent feature, quickly sorting through the huge quantities of information to find that which is most relevant. “Readers picks” are listed, allowing the viewer to see the current most popular news articles, along with “quotes of the day”, currency exchange rates listings, pictures of the day and highlighted stories. This site is a truly brilliant resource and one well worth earmarking for reference, whichever industry or country you work in.

And finally

The officials in Changyuan County in central China’s Henan province have now made new rules for employee promotions. Apart from evaluating a worker on the basis of his or her hard work in the office, the employer will also consider how a particular worker treats his parents. Assessment teams plan to interview officials’ family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues and subordinates as well as members of the public to judge their character and give them appraisal. Most importantly, they will judge a worker on the basis of his/her behavior towards his parents.
