Article Type: Abstracts From: Human Resource Management International Digest, Volume 20, Issue 7

Lin Z.Thunderbird International Business Review (USA), May-June 2012, Vol. 54 No. 3, Start page: 311, No. of pages: 15

Examines the relationship between western human resource management (HRM) systems and firm performance based on a sample of 324 firms in China. Show that the degree of adoption of western HRM practices made no statistically significant difference between Chinese and foreign firms and also generally supports the hypothesis that western HRM systems are positively associated with firm performance in a Chinese context. Shows that the proposed “motivation and support” HRM system appeared to have stronger and more significant relationships than the “skill and development” HRM system. Identifies the underlying reasons and draws some managerial implications for both Chinese and foreign firms.ISSN: 1096-4762Reference: 41AL750
