New-media training for Leeds and Holbeck

New-media training for Leeds and Holbeck

More than 900 employees of Leeds and Holbeck Building Society throughout the UK can now benefit from the introduction of a new intranet-based e-learning facility. The facility is available throughout its 58-branch network and head-office departments.

It became apparent that staff working in outlying regions, such as the Aberdeen office, were not receiving the same training opportunities as their colleagues in some of the branches closer to the head office in Leeds. The new system allows access to the same training courses for all, so even staff in the Gibraltar branch will benefit from the system.

The e-learning facility will complement the society's existing classroom-training programme by providing the training of new initiatives within a short time frame across a large area.

The system is provided by e2train, which was chosen for the ease of system usage of both the Kallidus authoring tool and the learning-management system. The success of e-learning will be measured on a continual basis, with the results being updated and evaluated through many different areas, including reporting, staff retention and career progression.

Training and development adviser Julie Chilvers said: “The new system helps us to provide all members of staff with a consistent approach to training. The e-learning tool can be accessed by anyone from his or her desk. It means that staff in the branches do not have to be away from the office for a full day. It provides a cost-effective, modern and speedy solution to our training challenges”.
