Pace steps out with executive program

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 40, Issue 6

Pace Micro Technology plc, a developer of digital-TV technologies for the global pay-TV industry, has introduced a bespoke program of finance courses for non-financial managers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Among Britain’s largest consumer-electronics companies, Pace has teamed up with the University of Bradford School of Management for the course. The school’s director of executive education, Julian Rawel, devised the program specifically so that managers can transfer their learning directly to the workplace.

Around 30 senior managers, including heads of engineering, group account directors and chief technical engineers, will be involved.

Julian Rawel commented: “Like many forward-thinking employers, Pace Micro Technology is encouraging senior managers to add an understanding of finance and accounting to their particular area of expertise, in order to make and influence business decisions.

“The important and, I hope, exciting prospect for delegates and Pace is to see how a knowledge of finance and accounting by managers in all departments can help to achieve improved business results and move the business forward in a significant way.”

Jill Ezard, Pace Micro Technology director of HR, commented: “The program has been tailored to our needs and will form an important part of the overall leadership development that takes place at Pace.”
