The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) has confirmed its position as an international leader in quality improvement, accreditation and measurement programs.
Working collaboratively with the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the ACHS is assisting in the development and implementation of a Pilot Scheme of Hospital Accreditation for five public and three private hospitals in Hong Kong. The work will continue over the next three years.
Providing an update to the Annual General Meeting while hosting a delegation from Hong Kong in Sydney recently, the ACHS Chief Executive, Mr Brian Johnston commented that the “outlook for 2010 appears positive despite the global recession and strong competition. International recognition of the Australian model of accreditation has generated strong interest from other Asia-Pacific countries including Korea and Singapore”.
Due to international demand the ACHS has also delivered training in accreditation standards and surveying techniques to health professionals from India, Hong Kong, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Most recently the ACHS President, Associate Professor Peter Woodruff, presented ACHS International accreditation to the Medical Services of Emirates Airline in Dubai, recognising their commitment to continuous quality improvement.
