The IPMA is the world's oldest project management organisation. It is an international network of national project management societies and their web link is at: www.ipma.ch/Pages/default.aspx. The advantage of keeping abreast with this web site is that it links to a range of PM associations and (their URL link is at: www.ipma.ch/membership/Pages/default.aspx) so link through them to find out more about their conferences and events.

The UK Association for Project Management (APA) is mounting several national events during 2009. Full details are at available at: www.apm.org.uk/awards.asp and www.apm.org.uk/conference.asp, respectively.

One other example of the associated group is the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) that has an annual conference and also jointly offers one with the PMI Australian chapters. The AIPM web link is at: www.aipm.com.au/html/default.cfm

The IRNOP we site is very useful for conferences, books and PM journal matters their web site URL is at: www.irnop.org/ their next conference is in Berlin in 2009 so this site is useful to keep track of dates.

The CIB is an organisation that is centred in Europe and based in The Netherlands but with global reach and supports and is composed of construction practitioners and academics. They have many conferences and meeting of their specialised working commissions, many of interest to PM readers of this journal the home page URL is at: www.cibworld.nl/web site/

Another useful link for PM students and academics to consider is two groups of collaborating organisations that link universities teaching PM and also students and practitioners:

    The PMI have formed the Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) that has the aim of accrediting PM courses/programs of study (mainly at the Masters degree level as well as doctoral level) the URL link to the GAC is at: www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment/Pages/GAC-Academic-Network.aspx

    The other group is PMUni, URL: www.pmuni.net/. PMUni is an international network of universities, education, and research institutions as well as process and project-oriented companies with the overall objective to promote professional education and research in process and project management. They and have held a number of workshops, conferences and meetings where the participants meet to exchange experience in research and education, www.pmuni.net/
