World’s first wireless community

The world’s first truly wireless community, dubbed Helsinki Virtual Village, is currently being developed in the Finnish region of Arabianranta.

Nokia Internet Communications has been selected as the Internet security foundation for the Virtual Village, which represents the most ambitious use of mobile technology to date. More than 12,000 residents, 9,000 employees and 6,000 local university students will live in the mobile community by 2010.
