Skill shortage
Even (or especially?) the USA faces significant education and worker training challenges in the global economy of the twenty-first century. The first signs of this trend can be seen in the high-tech business world of today. Employers are simply not finding the workers they need based on the maths, science and technology skill levels of the students graduating from US high schools, colleges and universities. Workforce training – and retraining – is therefore receiving considerable scrutiny from policymakers as sectors of the US economy face intense competition from other nations and other workforces. These policy-makers have to identify those polices that will meet the needs of US industry and commerce. Watch this space in two or three years time to see if they did so!
