It’s the law!
The new UK statutory Dispute Resolution Regulations came into force on Friday 1 October, 2004. To illustrate the importance of these new regulations, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) surveyed 1,200 employees just before the regulations came into effect. The survey showed that the average business is forced to devote 450 days of management time every year on managing disciplinary and grievance cases or preparing for employment tribunals. Now, all employers and employees must follow a minimum three-step disciplinary and grievance procedure in the event of a workplace dispute. Hopefully this will reduce this costly overhead.
