UK health improving

The National Health Service in the UK could save around £2.2 billion a year if local health trusts became more efficient in the way they deliver certain services, according to a recent report from the Department of Health.

This was followed by the publishing of a list of 16 “performance indicators” which has been sent to all NHS trusts in order to encourage them to match the achievements of the best performing trusts by making changes to the way that services are delivered.

So, we have both performance measurement and benchmarking in the health service – any bets on the level of performance improvement?
