Phone for best price
Article Type: News From: International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, Volume 59, Issue 8
The first ever paper to look at the impact (in India) of farm information-enabled mobile telephony on small farmers has concluded that while it has begun to enhance agricultural productivity at different levels, it needs significant improvements in order to achieve full productivity-enhancing potential.
Erratic services and irrelevant information dominate at present, instead. Among the states studied (the relevant services are not available countrywide yet), small farmers from Maharashtra (income between Rs 12-17,000/month) reported the highest use of their phones to access information, leading to diverse benefits.
These included yield improvements, price realisation and better adjustment of supply to market demand.
