"A regional approach to sustainability in Austria"
which appeared in International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education , Vol. 2 No. 3, 2001
Michael Narodoslawsky, born 28 June 1954 in Graz, Austria, holds a diploma in chemical engineering and a doctorate in technical sciences from the Technical University Graz. He is currently associate professor at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Fundamentals and Process Technology at this university.
Michael Narodoslawsky has published a number of papers on sustainability indicators and sustainable regional development. He acted as partner in EU projects concerned with these topics. He has headed the research association SUSTAIN and is consultant to various administrative bodies at national and regional levels. He is also initiator as well as scientific co-ordinator of a regional research institute for sustainable development (the "Kornberg Institute") that deals with problems with the implementation of regional sustainable development in a concrete region in south-east Australia. He was director of the research association Network for Urban and Regional Sustainable Development Research #(ENSURE) within the framework of the European Association of Social Sciences (EA).
