On-line survey on teleconferencing tools

Article Type: News from the net From: International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education, Volume 10, Issue 2

A new research project has been launched looking at variables affecting the use of teleconferencing tools for collaborative research in an age of growing environmental concern, and is looking for participants.

Collaborative research is gaining momentum in the Global Knowledge Economy, which is increasingly dependent on global collaboration but at the same time is required to conduct “green” collaboration, and reduce the carbon footprint associated with travel to, and from meetings with collaborators.

This research aims to investigate the individual and organisational variables affecting the shift from face-to-face to telecommunications-enabled meetings, and the potential link between this shift and the reduction of travel. Inputs from people working at universities and those organizing conferences are especially welcome. Interested individuals may participate through completing the online survey whose details are available at: http://sustainablecollaborativeresearch.blogspot.com/
