The German Resources Project, formally known as German Demonstration Project, is among the three pilot projects of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Global Resources Project. The other two pilot projects are on Japan and Latin America.

The German Resources Project is a long-term enterprise focusing on improving the acquisition, use and sharing of German language material amongs North American libraries, as well as fostering closer collaboration with German research libraries. The project will help libraries maximise their investment in German language scholarship. To achieve this the project has been divided into four working groups: collection development; document delivery; digital libraries, and bibliographic control. Amongst the initiatives which the working groups have are the creation of a formal system of document delivery between German and North American libraries, harmonisation of cataloguing rules, the provision of collection development tools and the fostering of collaborative digital library projects.

The Global Resources Program (GRP) is funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. It is concerned with providing both short-term and long-term access for students and scholars to international materials.
