A first for Essex
Essex public libraries are the first County authority to send requests to BLDSC using the ISO ILL protocol and is also the first authority in the country to use Fretwell-Downing's VDX software as its request management system. This is able to search Z39.50 compliant databases. Thus Essex can carry out a one-stop search of its own catalogue and its Co-East partner Cambridge. ILDS hopes to carry an article during 2003 about the ground breaking work being done by Co-East to bring digital resources to the citizens of East Anglia.
