To assist in the market support function Bob Howard has joined from Rocol and will primarily assist UK customers with technical support and training. Bob is highly experienced, having been associated with metalworking fluids for a number of years and brings expert knowledge in areas such as metal forming.

The product development team has also been strengthened by the addition of two new members; Simon Pickles has joined from Batoyle where he gained wide experience with different types of water-based systems including wire drawing and textile oils. Richard Whitfield, by contrast, comes from a background of research where he particularly specialised in the methodology of grinding and the associated chemistry.

With a commitment to future growth Polartech still intends to strengthen further the two key areas of product development and market support to offer customers an enhanced package of products, services and equipment.

These appointments come at the end of a busy year for the company. During 1997 two overseas operating companies have been formed: the first, Polartech Additives Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada and is under the control of John Dixon; the second, Polartech Asia Pacific Limited, based in Hong Kong, is run by Kevin Bolt. Both of these general managers have been working together with Polartech for a number of years and bring with them considerable experience of their own markets.

Finally, the company's site in Manchester, UK, has been the subject of considerable investment during 1997 with the building of a new tank farm, a new office building nearing completion and work due to start on expanding the production capacity of the plant.
