Toyota Motor Corp. will start marketing a budget-priced two-seater electric vehicle this year, with rivals ready to introduce similar models in 1999 or later. Toyota's vehicle will be priced below two million yen ($15,000), less than half the price of mainstream electric vehicles currently on the market. Measuring about 2.8m. long, 1.5m. wide and 1.6m. high, it will go on sale not only in Japan but also in European and US markets. The vehicle can travel 100km (62 miles) on a single charge, about half of the bigger models on the market, but can be recharged from electricity outlets in homes.
