Silvertown UK Ltd and pump manufacturer Sulzer Roteq UK Ltd have agreed a single source partnership under which Silvertown's environmentally-friendly "Silverline" water-lubricated, rubber-lined shaft bearings will be fitted throughout the Sulzer range of vertical pumps. The agreement also covers the Sulzer Pump companies in Europe. Silverline bearings provide efficient lubrication by encouraging a film of water to form between the pump's revolving shaft and the bearing surface. No oil is used and so there is no possible risk of contamination. The system also has the advantage that it requires only one seal at the top where access for maintenance is easy. The bearings for the Sulzer pumps are manufactured with a variety of shells including stainless steel and most include flanges.
Sulzer Roteq is a division of the Swiss-based Sulzer plc. The group designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of specialist pumps, rotating and reciprocating compressors for a wide range of engineering applications.
Silverline water-lubricated bearings have been in widespread use in Scandinavian water turbines for over 25 years and are increasingly specified where environmental considerations are paramount.
