New application note from Perkin Elmer on oil condition monitoring

New application note from Perkin Elmer on oil condition monitoring

Keyword: Engine oil

A new application note from Perkin-Elmer describes the use of the Spectrum TM Used Oil Analyzer. The monitoring of engine oil is essential to minimise engine failure and downtime for heavy industrial equipment and commercial vehicles. The Analyzer, a complete, easy-to-use-system, designed specifically for oil analysis, provides accurate information on the condition of both oil and engine to determine when an oil change is needed.

The application note discusses indicators of chemical degradation, including the degree of oxidation, high nitration value, increasing sulphate value, ester breakdown and anti-wear additive depletion, as well as types of contamination such as soot, water, glycol and unburned fuel.
