A range of polymer lined pipe from 3P includes some of the largest bore sizes available in the UK (see Plate 10).

Lined pipe has been crucial in keeping down costs and reducing breakdowns in a wide range of fluids handling applications.

In chemicals, water, waste treatment and processing industries in particular, PTFE linings are claimed to protect thousands of miles of steel pipework from corrosion, helping to keep down capital outlay.

3P Ltd, based in Telford, Shropshire, is a leader in this field, supplying lined pipe in sizes down to 0.5in. The company is, however, the only UK producer to specialise in larger bore lined pipe from 12in. up to 30in.

Plate 10 3P Ltd offers PTFE lined pipe for corrosion resistant fluid handling in bore sizes up to 30in.

Although the effectiveness of larger bore lined pipe is sensitive to various operating factors, including temperature, processes and vacuum requirements, it should not be overlooked as an option, since the alternatives such as stainless steel, more frequent pipe replacement or welded and bonded sheet lining are often more expensive and/or less effective.
