Serck Heat Transfer has launched a new range of heat exchangers for oil, petrochemical and hydraulic duties, combining economical design with full coded specification and thermal performance 30 per cent in advance of any competitive product (see Plate 6).

The new range exists in two versions known respectively as Serckstream AP and Serckstream AF; the latter featuring aluminium secondary surface fins for additional cooling capability. Both are available in single and two flow designs, offering excellent corrosion-resistance, reliability and ease of servicing. The new range of coolers has been specifically designed for high performance oil cooling and is compatible with virtually any type of cooling medium, including fresh water, sea water and light oils. The design is available either in steel or, for coded applications, with a cylinder of seamless, drawn aluminium and cast aluminium hub. In either case, a double O-ring seal provides high security joints and eliminates any problems caused by differential thermal expansion.

The design is modular and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. Working pressures are 16 bar at 150°C over the tubes or 10 bar working at 50°C through the tubes. The smallest heat exchanger in the Serckstream AF/AP range has a diameter of 127 mm and a length of 1,900 mm: the largest a diameter of 285 mm and a length of 3,000 mm. Serck Heat exchangers are designed and manufactured in accordance with BS 5500, ASME Section VIII and AD Merkblatter.
