Alfa Laval Thermal acquires Vicarb S.A.

Alfa Laval, the world's leading manufacturer of compact heat exchangers, is set to increase its product range and market penetration with the acquisition of Vicarb S.A., French manufacturers of gasketed heat exchangers, Compabloc, and Compaplate welded heat exchangers and plate coils. The deal brings together two of the principal innovators in the heat exchanger industry. Vicarb, with 700 employees worldwide, is much the smaller of the two companies but will make an important contribution in terms of complementary products, people and competencies in the areas of welding, exotic materials and chemical process knowledge. Now that the acquisition has been officially approved, Alfa Laval intends to invest heavily in upgrading Vicarb's manufacturing facilities in Grenoble with a view to rapid integration into the Alfa Laval global operation.
