The second International Conference on Industrial Tribology is being organised by BHEL, Corporate R&D Division of Hyderabad with the theme of Tribology in 2000 and Beyond to bring to focus the achievements of Tribology by 2000 and the future advancement of this discipline in the twenty-first century.

The theme Tribology in 2000 and Beyond is proposed to cover the broad areas of tribology through the following technical sessions to include different aspects of tribology. The proposed sessions are:

  • lubrication basics;

  • lubricants ­ industrial and solid;

  • lubricants ­ automotive, metal working and power transmission;

  • surface engineering;

  • tribology of materials;

  • condition monitoring;

  • tribotesting and analytical techniques;

  • dynamic fluid sealing, seals and rotor dynamic coefficients;

  • tribology in power sector and allied industries;

  • special topics in tribology.

Plenary sessions and theme papers

  • macro and nano tribology;

  • tribology in steel plants and associated tribological problems;

  • power plants tribology;

  • tribology and environment;

  • lubricants of 2000 and beyond;

  • bearings of the twenty-first century;

Symposium/special sessions

During the conference symposium/special sessions will be organised on:

  • energy efficient bearings in the power and industrial sectors tribology in 2000 and beyond by presentation of papers selected exclusively in the frontier areas.

Technical courses

On 4 December 1999, four parallel one-day courses with the following themes will be organised at the conference venue:

  • automotive lubricants;

  • metal working lubricants ­ Health and Safety;

  • maintenance of rotating machines;

  • steel mill lubrication.
