Vogel Mecafluid Vectolub set for UK launch

Keywords: Machine tools, Lubricants

The industry-leading Vogel Mecafluid Vectolub air-assisted micro-lubrication system is now available in the UK and Eire through Vogel Ltd, of Kenilworth. Developed principally to replace conventional "suds" emulsion systems in machine tool operations (sawing, drilling, machining and thread cutting), Vectolub applications also extend to die forming and die coating, pre-lubrication of components in pressing and stamping operations, and oil coating before assembly.

In every application, Vectolub has been shown to increase productivity and significantly reduce lubricant consumption. The combination of high-performance oil and compressed air results in efficient cooling and virtually dry chip clearance. Tool life is increased and surface finish is improved.

Vectolub also presents important environmental benefits. Compared with suds systems, Vectolub eliminates the need for waste oil recycling. The chips do not need cleaning before recycling. Biodegradable oil is recommended. The Vectolub system comprises a pneumatic micropump, controlled by a frequency generator, which delivers precisely metered micro-droplets of lubricant suspended within an air flow to fixed or adjustable nozzles at the point of tool contact.

To ensure the optimum lubrication and cooling, the stroke of the pump can be adjusted at the outlet to provide from 3 to 30cu.mm of oil per pulse per nozzle, while the frequency is variable from 1 pulse per minute to 3 per second.

Ensuring that it can be tailored to every application, the Vectolub system is modular, and each part can be supplied separately. A range of pumps is available to accommodate two, four or more nozzles. Integral or remote oil reservoirs range from 0.3 litre up to 10 litres, and a wide variety of nozzle types have been developed to ensure complete versatility. Reservoirs and nozzles can be fixed magnetically or via screw fixings. Vogel Ltd will market the Mecafluid Vectolub system alongside their internationally acclaimed lubrication and pump ranges, backed by a complete after-sales service, with a comprehensive UK-held parts stock.
