Shell adds semi-synthetic to Rimula truck and bus oil range

Keywords: Shell, Oils

Improved fuel economy and longer drain intervals are among the key attractions of Shell Rimula Super FE 10W-40 semi-synthetic heavy-duty diesel engine oil currently being introduced. It is being launched alongside an upgraded Rimula Super 15W-40 mineral oil. Both new oils form part of a pan-European range of Shell Rimula truck and bus lubricants. Rimula Super FE 10W-40 meets many of the lubricant requirements of truck and bus operators who recognise the fuel-saving and/or long drain advantages of fully-synthetic oils, like Shell's well established Rimula Ultra 5W-30. The SAE 10W-40 viscosity rating of Rimula Super FE ensures excellent lubricity and minimises frictional losses at lower engine temperatures, especially at start-up. As well as meeting ACEA E3 and API CH-4 oil industry standards, Rimula Super FE 10W-40 has five specific engine manufacturer approvals including, notably, Cummins' CES 20071/20072 extended-drain specification. For operators of mixed fleets comprising both Cummins and European engined vehicles, it is now possible to choose one semi-synthetic lubricant, Rimula Super FE 10W-40, which opens the way for the same oil brand and grade to be used throughout such fleets. Shell Rimula Super 15W-40 has been upgraded to complement the new semi-synthetic. Based on Shell's established Rimula Super 15W-40 premium mineral oil launched in 1997, it offers improved wear protection and soot-handling performance at widely varying fuel sulphur levels. The improved formulation of Rimula Super 15W-40 fulfils a wider range of engine manufacturer specifications. As well as maintaining ACEA E3, it has API CH-4 approval, and meets the latest Cummins 20071/20072 and Renault VI RLD lubricant performance specifications.
