New sensor measures and displays relative water saturation of oils

Keywords: Sensors, Oils

The Pall water sensor is designed to detect water in solution in lubricating oils, fuel oil, hydraulic fluids and dielectric fluids. If cloudy due to high water contamination. The Pall water sensor will display 100 per cent saturation until steps are taken to return the water content below the saturation point.

Simple operation

An LED displays percentage saturation, temperature or both, alternating every few seconds. At 90 per cent saturation it will flash to draw attention to the water contamination level. Output relay contacts can be set for high and normal water concentrations. These signals can be used to operate a remote alarm or to control the operation of a Pall fluid purifier. The sensor can also be interfaced to a PLC to provide direct correlation of electrical current to percent saturation and temperature.

Easy installation

A 3/8' BSPP fitting is supplied allowing for a direct connection to the fluid line. The probe is positioned so that the sensor tip is fully immersed in the fluid stream and locked into position with the compression fitting.

The Pall WS03 water sensor comes with a two metre probe cable. It weighs less than 2kg and operates at fluid temperatures up to 85°C and up to 10 bar pressure.
