World-leading component manufacturer, Wyko Industrial Services, is now distributing the new 4610 cartridge seal from John Crane to the water and wastewater industries all over the UK.

Stocked at the company's impressive mechanical seal centre in Manchester, the 4610 seal can also be purchased from any of Wyko's 190 branches and repair workshops throughout the country due to an extensive national network. Mechanical expertise is available 24 hours a day, and seven days a week, providing service and support for the full range of hydraulic and pneumatic sealing products with in-house use of leading edge logistics.

"We are delighted to be a fully authorised distributor for this product", said Barry Home, Product Manager, Seals at Wyko Industrial Services. "This contract builds upon an already strong relationship between John Crane and Wyko and our aim is to ensure that this product is readily accessible to as many customers as possible."

Quick and easy to install, the new single cartridge seal removes the need for seal setting, equipment modification or additional components and combines cost-effectiveness with dependability. Reducing maintenance and running costs, product leakage and equipment downtime while meeting key industry pump standards, the 4610 can be used in rotating shaft equipment where ANSI/DIN/API design seals will not fit including water-based, close-coupled and vertical water pumps.

Wyko offers the full size range of 4610 seals, from 24-70mm (1-2¾in.), and a performance capability of 3,600rpm at pressures up to 11 bar and temperatures to 130°C.

Based on a computer-optimised hydraulically balanced running face design, the seal is manufactured using premium grade carbon and silicon carbide, with a robust pin drive to give positive torque transmission. This is supported by an indirect through-sleeve drive and a non-clogging crest-to-crest wave spring, which gives constant face loading, improved corrosion resistance and allows easy assembly.

The "unique", precise investment cast gland plate design has a quarter inch NPT flush port, providing improved cooling/venting. A large flush connection ensures optimum flow in applications that require product re-circulation or clean flushing over the seal faces, while allowing seal chamber venting for horizontal or vertical applications.

Four-bolt fixing provides accurate seal setting, and the centralising ring eliminates the need for setting clips, while remaining accurate in setting the seal both axially and radially. In addition, component damage caused by over-compression during installation is prevented.
