Innovative protection for sample analysers

Innovative protection for sample analysers

Keywords: Filters, Equipment

Parker's wide range of Balston branded filters to protect analysers is further strengthened with the latest range of "fast loop" filter housings. These filter housings have a design, which has been optimised to bring a number of benefits to the users.

Increased filter element life when compared to the traditional filters results from the innovative flow-through design of the "fast-loop" series from Parker. This innovative design means that the filter cartridge is continually flushed by the process stream, which carries bulk contaminants away with it, and hence ensures a longer filter element life (Plate 3). The design is enhanced with inlet and outlet ports for the process stream which are identical; importantly, this eliminates backpressure from this part of the system. The clean side of the sample filter has been designed with a very low volume to ensure that any lag time is minimised and changes in the sample are seen quickly at the analyser.

With 316 stainless steel constructions and the option of designs incorporating a Pyrex bowl mean the excellent chemical resistance of Parker's other filters, which is also seen in this "fast-loop" range. Filtration of the sample can, depending on the application, go right down to 0.01 micron. Commenting on the range of "fast-loop" filters product manager Matthew Lampton said "the range of fast loop filters offer features, which users attach high importance to and are synonymous with the Balston brand".
