Quaker Chemical Corporation introduces two new fire-resistant and biodegradable hydraulic fluids

Keywords: Hydraulics, Fluids, Fire-resistant fluids

Quaker Chemical Corporation introduced the first globally standardised fire-resistant hydraulic fluid, Quintolubric® 888, which has been embraced by the markets worldwide. Currently, the company is expanding the Quintolubric line to include two new fluids for applications that demand the consistency and dependability of 888 in systems where extremely high temperatures are common, or where constant need to recharge the system constrains costs.

"This is a natural evolution of our product," said Michael Zink, Quaker's fluid power marketing manager. "The target customers for Quintolubric 888 reacted very positively to last year's introduction of a standard product that is available everywhere in the world. Plus, potential customers outside the Quintolubric 888 profile expressed interest in the concept as well. That spurred us to bring these new fluids in the Quintolubric family to market quickly," he added.

The entire Quintolubric family offers a constellation of benefits in safety and performance. For safety, they are fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. They are nontoxic, nonirritating, and contain no hazardous ingredients. And they are readily biodegradable as well as nontoxic to aquatic life. In performance, Quintolubric fluids offer the lubrication level of premium anti-wear hydraulic oils, and they can be used with hydraulic components from all major manufacturers.

New Quintolubric® 899 was developed to meet the high temperature demands in applications such as furnaces and mobile equipment. This product is based on novel synthetic ester plus additives that deliver an extended useful life at temperatures above 70°C.

The other new fluid, Quintolubric 855, has been designed to provide the level of standard performance promised in the Quintolubric family, but at a cost that is effective for application in older equipment where the system must be refilled frequently. This product uses the Quintolubric additives, but in a natural oil (rapeseed) base.
