Great Lakes launches ashless, multifunctional additive for industrial oils

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation has announced the introduction of a new ashless, multifunctional additive, DURAD MA3000, developed as an alternative to metal- containing additives for industrial oils. The latest in a line of synthetic, metal-free multifunctional additives for industrial oils, DURAD MA3000 offers excellent oil stabilization, anti-wear and extreme-pressure performance to lubricants such as hydraulic, gear and circulatory oils.
"DURAD MA3000 provides our customers an excellent ashless alternative to zinc dialkyldithiophosphate without sacrificing performance," said David Phillips, Great Lakes Marketing and Technical Manager, Performance Additives and Fluids. "And, DURAD MA3000 offers an additional advantage rust inhibition."
Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDTP) is one of the heavy metals being proposed for regulation by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The pending regulations address the release of heavy metals into the environment by the metal processing and manufacturing industry and call for a major reduction in the allowable limits of zinc, including ZDTP, in effluent.
DURAD MA3000 can be used alone or in conjunction with other products, such as metal passivators, dispersants, demulsifiers and anti-foam additives, to meet a broad range of industrial standards. DURAD MA3000 is a liquid, readily compatible with a range of mineral and synthetic oils and contains no chlorine or sulfur.
Phosphate ester anti-wear and extreme- pressure additives, as well as antioxidants for oil industry applications, complement Great Lakes' line of fire-resistant fluids and lubricants.
