Parker Hannifin has added the power of Bluetooth to its MS100 Moisture Sensor and its range of portable particle analysers. This approach removes many of the hurdles faced by other condition monitoring hardware – local proximity, as opposed to direct access is all that is needed to collate and analyse test results (Plate 6).
Remote data collection via Bluetooth means no EMC/RFI communication restrictions are circumvented and maintenance engineers, with multiple applications to monitor, can manage their systems remotely, getting information direct to their computer or PDA.

Already proven in the telephony and computing sector, wireless communications are reinventing the way many companies gather, collate and analyse data. By removing the need to physically “plug in” to hardware, wireless transmissions remove many of the design-for-maintenance headaches that can conflict with functional aspects of many designs. The ability to effectively seal systems is bought to the fore with wireless data transfer.
Parker's MS100 Moisture Sensor provides a compact, real-time solution to continuous water contamination condition monitoring in hydraulic and lubricating systems used throughout manufacturing industry. It operates with petroleum/synthetic hydraulic and lubricating oil and a phosphate ester version can be specified.
The company's LaserCM particle analyser combines advanced laser technology with Parker's proven, industry-standard white-light CM20 six-channel contamination monitoring. The unit offers highly repeatable and accurate system monitoring. Besides offering a 2min test time it can also provide data logging, instant data retrieval from the handset, 32- character alphanumeric data entry, graphing, automatic logging of tests via user handset input, storage and data download into trend analysis software.
