Dow Corning reformulating Molykote® greases to remove azo dyes
Keywords: Dyes, Lubricants
In response to recent European Union regulatory directives (76/769/EEC) relating to restrictions on the use of certain azo colorants, Dow Corning is reformulating its Molykote® brand industrial greases to remove azo dye compounds.
“Sustainability is a foundational element in the way Dow Corning does business,” said Geert DeBacker, global marketing director, Molykote Lubricants. “We're committed to sustainability in the environment, the health and safety of our customers and employees, the products and services we provide, and the communities in which we operate.”
The greases impacted by this change include Molykote® 33 Medium, Molykote® 33 Light, Molykote® 44 Medium, Molykote® 44 Light, and Molykote® 55 O-Ring. Customers may notice a slight variation in product color with the new formulations, but product performance will not be affected.
The azo-free formulation greases will be introduced over the next few months.
