Motoman, Inc. was chosen as the 1998 recipient of the Market Engineering Leadership Award for taking the lead in expanding its product line and improving customer focus. Key factors that Frost & Sullivan reviewed and noted about Motoman were the following:

  • Motoman's innovation in new product development such as the ArcWorld II series that targets high-volume production of small to medium-size parts and the FabWorld II series, arc welding systems designed for large applications and heavy deposition welding (see Plate 1).

  • The company's PC-based software, including the Robot Teaching System of Yaskawa (ROTSY), an offline programming and simulation package that makes robotic application development simple and cost-effective.

  • Its solid infrastructure in the USA assuring timely field service, application development, and product development.

"Motoman's strategy has always been to be a complete automation solution supplier and not just a robot company. It is an honour to be recognized as an industry leader by such a well-established market research company", said Bill DeCamp, director of marketing.

Winners of the Frost & Sullivan award are selected from an in-depth analysis of market competitors and interviews with those companies that make up the industry.
