Penny + Giles Computer Products, a division of Devlin Electronics, has introduced new products to its special-needs family of switches. The Joggle switch is a "rotate-to-set" variable-pressure switch for special-needs users (Plate 3).

The Joggle switch is compatible with all popular mounting systems. It is thought to be particularly suited to users with poor motor skills or users with weak, limited movements where a normal mouse or joystick would be too sensitive to control.

The Joggle switch is said to be comfortably large (125mm) for ease of use, and features a unique, patented, variable-pressure mechanism. It is simply a matter of rotating the coloured top to increase or decrease the actuation force required, to suit the needs of the individual user.

The actuation pressure is easily adjustable from 200gm to 1.5kgm There are 15 preset positions of the switch to allow easy repeatability.

The design features a rugged and durable construction, and the switch cover is available in bright red, yellow, green and blue to make them highly visible. Connection is via a 3.5mm jack plug.

The switch is part of an award-winning range of computer-access equipment, designed to assist suffers of cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions. The products are the result of clinical trials and evaluation programmes assisted by professionals and organisations active in these areas.

The provision of innovative technology in the form of products for people with disabilities not only provides practical solutions to everyday problems but can radically improve their development and educational opportunities enabling them to participate in society on equal terms.
