First quarter sales for HY Robotics indicate that the newly formed company has achieved excellent market penetration with 20 per cent of the UK robotic arc welding market and 5 per cent of the overall UK market for robotic systems. HY offers the Hyundai range of eleven 6-axis industrial robots with payload capacity from 6 kg for the HR006 to 400 kg for the HX 400 (Plate 2).

Sales to date include robotic arc weld, spot weld, handling, palletising and training systems. These range in complexity from simple single robot arc welding cells with fixed tables to a parts handling robot to a system with two robot-manipulated spot weld guns mounted on a servo driven carriage.

Managing director Mike Wilson Comments: “The market is proving highly receptive to the combination of good functionality, high performance, high reliability and low cost that HY is able to offer. The fact that Hyundai robots are used by well respected system integrator partners like, Bauromat of Pershore and Game Engineering, based near Newark maximises the credibility of the package”.

HY is working to expand the scope of the systems it offers. To support the robots there is a growing range of standard ancillary equipment including weld packages, positioners, turntables, tracks and standards cells. These are sourced from partners throughout Europe to ensure that the most reliable and cost effective systems are available.

“We're very pleased with our early progress”. Mike Wilson concluded. “We're committed to providing cost effective solutions that maximise the end user's competitiveness and it's good to see that this is getting a positive response.”
