2004-05 Robotics Industry Directory

Special pullout poster inside the robotics industry directory has history.

A new issue of the Robotic Industries Association's (RIA) supplier directory is now available, and includes a special pullout poster that commemorates the association's 30th anniversary. The 2004-2005 Robotics Industry Directory, with 184 supplier member profiles, is a unique goldmine of information about top robotics suppliers and integrators.

As part of the association's 30th anniversary celebration, company profiles indicate consecutive years of membership in the RIA, and acknowledge the members' participation in key industry events. New this year is a quick-reference table, the “User's Guide to Robot Systems Integrators”, that presents listings in a grid sorted by application areas.

“This book, considered by many as the `bible' of the industry, is a goldmine of information for users looking for top suppliers and integrators of robotics technology and services”. said Donald A. Vincent. Executive Vice-President, RIA. “It is unique in that the listings are based on RIA membership, so it can be trusted as both current and informative. In fact, the new Directory contains many interesting facts about industry trends and RIA's history.”

The 2004-2005 Robotics Industry Directory features several “firsts” and enhancements. They are as follows.

• New and improved Supplier Profiles, now with details on key industry activities;

• New and improved User's Guide to Robot Systems Integrators;

• First time inclusion of the RIA Membership application;

• First-ever pullout poster commemorating RIA's 30th Anniversary; and

• Fresh editorial and numerous anniversary “factoids”.

In addition to company listings, the directory also includes several new papers: two featuring historical and forward looking commentary on the robotics industry (“Robots for the Next 30 Years”) and “A 30-Year Perspective: The Past and Future of Robotics”), with a third discussing how to “Keep Domestic Manufacturing Strong by Investing in Robotic Automation”.

“This is an exciting year for RIA,” said Vincent. “Quite a bit of history is depicted in the poster. Look closely and you'll see some of the first robots sold by the industry's `founding father'. Joseph Engelberger. Look for the main in the bow tie ... that's him. You'll see other famous people, too, such as Dean Kaman (founder of FIRST and inventor of the Segway Human Transporter), and even Ross Perot, who spoke at the 1999 International Robots & Vision Show and Conference. Speaking of shows, the poster alerts users to the 2005 International Robots & Vision Show and Conference, as well as other offering from the Association.”

Another valuable resource provided by RIA is Robotics Online (www.roboticsonline.com). The site's rich content posts constant updates of news, products, feature articles, events, case studies, technical papers and dialog threads on the “Ask the Experts” forum. Robotics Online features an online searchable Buyers Guide with product listings, new products and the latest profiles of RIA supplier members and integrators.

Free copies of the 2004-2005 Directory may be requested from RIA through the Association Web site: Robotics Online (www.roboticsonline.com) or call RIA Headquarters at 734/994-6088.
