ELTA's R3G repeats GPS/ GLONASS/GALILEO signals

ELTA of France, a manufacturer of electronic equipment for harsh environments, has released the R3G universal repeater, which receives and retransmits all GPS/GLONASS/ GALILEO positioning signals, even inside buildings (such as aircraft hangars, integration rooms, factories, workshops, etc.).

With this device, all the functions offered by GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO services are now accessible in any covered area, and in a way which is totally transparent for users. The R3G enables these services without the equipment or device (aircraft, train, car or satellite) having to be taken outside the building.

The R3G repeater consists of an external antenna positioned on the roof of the building, which receives input frequencies ranging from 1,160 to 1,614Mhz. Once the signals have been picked up, they are routed via a reception cable (maximum length of 15m) to a radio frequency box, which filters and amplifies the signal. The positioning signals can then be retransmitted inside the building, via the transmission cable, to the retransmission antenna box. The R3G repeater system distributes a variety of signals, such as GALILEO/GPS/ GLONASS (E5A-E5B-L5-L3), GPS (L2), GLONASS (L2), GALILEO (E6) and GALILEO/GPS/GLONASS (E2-L1-E1).

The R3G system's external antenna (Figure 1) is designed to operate within a wide temperature range (220°C to +70°C). The device is intended for all those who use time and/or geo- positioning synchronisation via GPS in a variety of application areas, including aerospace and maritime communications; road, rail and multimodal transport; and many other professional and scientific uses.

About ELTA

ELTA develops, markets and maintains electronic equipment and systems for harsh environments. The aerospace market represent 50 percent of the company's sales revenue, with the remaining 50 percent coming from the defence, rail and energy sectors. By building its reputation and skills around high-level security equipment, ELTA has acquired a leading international position in these markets. ELTA is a joint subsidiary of AREVA TA of France and OHB Technology of Germany, which, respectively, own 66 and 34 percent of the company. The company has been headquartered in Blagnac (near Toulouse, in south-west France) since 1975.
