The Paint Mate 200iA robot (Figure 1) is the latest addition to FANUC Robotic’s spray painting robot range. Based on the well-proven LR Mate® series, the new Paint Mate 200iA has a small footprint and can be accommodated in confined spaces.

A variety of mounting options, floor, ceiling, wall or angle, are suitable for the Paint Mate and its configuration, dexterity and reach make it ideal for complex shapes. Two options, Paint Mate 200iA and 200iA/5L provide reaches of 704 and 892 mm, respectively.

Further enhancing its suitability for confined spaces, the robot has absolute encoders which avoid the need for the arm to return to a home position to recalibrate after power is removed. High-speed operation with rigid construction ensures fast but smooth painting speeds to be maintained.

Suitable for the most aggressive environment, the Paint Mate uses brushless motors with sealed bearings and the complete arm structure is purged with pressurised air. The Paint Mate is compliant with FM and ATEX Hazardous approval Class I, II, and III division 1 environments.

Two levels of application specific software are available with Paint Mate each providing basic and custom levels of programming together with built in macro functions. At the highest level, Paint Tool™ software provides facility for colour change control, variable ratio pump control, ACCUFLOW™ closed loop fluid control, line tracking and collision detection.

Intuitive user operation and ease of programming is provided by the internet ready colour teach pendant. Control is implemented by FANUC’s latest R30iA controller which has the ability for multi-arm and full system control
