Dear friends and colleagues

It is my privilege to serve as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Asia Business Studies (JABS). I am grateful for the solid foundation that Professors Roger Chen and Nick Tay have created for the journal. I am also indebted to Professor Zhan Li, the founding editor, for starting this high quality journal. My goal is to continue with the journey that they started and, with your support, make our journal one that we can all be proud of. My vision is that within a few years we will be considered a significant scholarly outlet for publications relating to doing business in Asia. I am confident that this goal is achievable.

As you are aware, we are now published by Emerald Group Publishing with which I expect a much wider readership will be reached. In preparation of our progress forward, we have begun using ScholarOne, an electronic submission system by Emerald Group Publishing. With this system, we can streamline our submission and review process making our administration more effective and efficient. This transition from the old submission system to ScholarOne is expected to be seamless to all subscribers. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the University of San Francisco who had been very supportive of our journals in past years by providing the platform for us to receive and publish the articles. Other changes included the expansion of our editorial board to include four senior editors who will assist me in selecting area editors and reviewers for all the submissions. In addition to assisting in selecting area editors, Professor Xiaohua Yang will also be spending most of her time and effort in generating new submissions. We are also in the process of adding new members to our area editor team as well as members of the editorial board. I have planned to invite more prominent scholars in the field of international business to serve on our advisory board. In using a strong advisory board, we will be able to further develop our strategic direction. With all these new additions, I strongly believe that we will make our journal one which is respected by all scholars and readers interested in important issues surrounding Asia, one of the most prominent continents in the world for years to come.

In the short time that I have been involved with the JABS under my new capacity, I am humbled by the experience. I am inspired by the quality of submissions as well as the professionalism of my editors. I am deeply indebted to them. It is my expectation that we will continue to grow as a team and JABS will be the journal of choice for scholars, as well as practitioners, interested in Asian business affairs. I am confident that, with your help and support, it will happen very soon.
