Grants/Cultural Heritage Included in Horizon 2020In 2014 the new European funding programme Horizon 2020 will replace the expiring 7th Framework Programme. This financial instrument links to Europe 2020 and aims at securing Europe's global competitiveness and will be running from 2014 to 2020 with an €80 billion budget. The Industry, Research and Energy Committee of the European Parliament has confirmed that Cultural Heritage has been included as a priority, and will focus on the contribution of culture to research excellence, social cohesion and growth. Final calls under FP7 have been made to bridge the gap before the adoption of Horizon 2020 by the parliament is expected.Source: http://ec.europa.eu/research/horizon2020/index_en.cfm

Grants/JPI-JHEP Joint Pilot Call LaunchedThe Joint Programming Initiative-Joint Heritage European Programme (JPI-JHEP) launched a Pilot Call for Proposals: Funding of Research Projects in Cultural Heritage. The call focuses on four research topics: first, methods, tools and modelling for understanding damage and decay mechanisms; second, materials, technologies and procedures for the conservation of tangible cultural heritage; third, changes in use and re-use and the relationship to public policy; and fourth, increasing understanding of cultural values, valuation, interpretation, ethics and identity around all forms of cultural heritage.
