Students taking Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications on-line have proved they are the equal of their traditional, classroom-based counterparts.

The candidates, studying with FT Knowledge, achieved an overall pass rate of 72 percent, well ahead of the Institute's average worldwide rate of 50 percent.

Pippa Wicks, FT Knowledge CEO, said: "We've found that on-line learning creates virtual classrooms which allow delegates to interact with their tutors and fellow students at a time that is convenient. The flexibility of on-line learning is important to busy professionals whose demanding jobs make traditional classroom learning too restrictive. Those electing to learn on-line genuinely felt they are putting themselves in control from the start".
