A management guide to handling employment tribunals

A management guide to handling employment tribunals

With the number of employment tribunal claims rising by 33 per cent in the last five years, and now running at over 165,000 annually, many organisations choose to settle out of court to save costs, even when they have a strong defence. This is especially true of small-to-medium-sized enterprises.

A new management briefing entitled "Successfully defending employment tribunal cases" is now available from the Hawkesmere Group. It aims to enable managers and directors to represent their own defence cases if necessary.

The author of the briefing, Dennis Hunt, said: "This has been written for the manager who has no knowledge of, or background in, legal matters. It uses language with which all managers will be familiar. There is no reason why managers cannot handle their own tribunal cases and in so doing increase their confidence when dealing with industrial relations and employment affairs generally."
