Is the recipient of the journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for his paper

"Desirable leadership behaviours of multi-cultural managers in China"

which appeared in The Journal of Management Development , Vol. 21 No. 1, 2002

Professor Littrell has held posts as Senior Operations Research Analyst at LTV Aerospace Corp. in Dallas Texas in 1969, Unisys Corp., Xerox Computer Systems, and IBM, with two stints as a visiting professor in business, and managing an international trading company 1991-1995 marketing information technology products in the USA, Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and France.

After working as a visiting professor in China 1995-1996, Professor Littrell was recruited for the post of Training Manager by Bass Hotels & Resorts in Zhengzhou, China, completing his work there in 1999, serving as HR manager 1997-1999. He has been engaged in tertiary teaching and research since 1999 in Switzerland, Germany, and New Zealand. He completed a research doctorate in International Business in 1999 at Robert Kennedy College, Delémont, Jura, Switzerland.

A series of projects have been under way since 1997 investigating the effect of cultural group membership on management of business functions and processes. The projects include studies of leadership, human resource management, differences in personal and managerial values across cultures and their relationship to the behaviour of personnel in businesses.
