JOCM announces a call for track papers at the Lisbon INBAM conference in 2013. We shall devote our attention (and a special issue formed out of the contributions to this track in Lisbon) to sustainable solidarities. The reason for this focus lies in the emergent awareness that a long-term growth and peaceful cooperative coexistence of complex evolving societies crucially depends on our empathy, openness, inclusivity and – no matter what politicians say to appease the gods of popularity polls – yes, on multicultural organizations run by diversity conscious managers. Do we, professional producers of academically legitimized knowledge, instantly communicated by media old, new, social and asocial, contribute to the rehabilitation of multiculturalism and sustainability? Are growing inequalities culturally sustainable? Issues will vary: we shall ask critical questions about sustainability of current practices and beliefs, For instance: is bottling tap water and selling it as branded commodity sustainable – if ethical consumer can oppose it and ethical producer can abandon this product line? If you think that a Perrier or a San Pelegrino are eternal, look what happened to indoor smoking a decade ago and to bound feet in China a century ago.

We are reinventing world orders. We know that we cannot promise middle class houses to lower class mortgages, even if we repackage the loans on financial markets. We know that we cannot print master diplomas for students burdened with loans if they find no jobs to pay these soft loans back. And yet both Romney and Obama promise to continue crediting higher education. Will the bubble burst, or will science save us just in time? We invite papers on:

  Sustainable networks and alliances between civil societies, markets and states

  Solidarities with the underdogs and organized compensation mechanisms in a level competitive space

• •

  Reinventing democracy at the shop floor level of a class, a faculty, a city, or a managed project team

• •

  Sustainable solidarities within deliberative, performative and managed democracy

• •

  Sustainability of Facebooks, Crowdsourcing and Wikileaks in hyperconnected communicative clouds and networks

• •

  Sustainability of trust in mobile remix of solidarities and identities (Doctors Without Borders? Academies of Management?)

• •

  Solidarity and reflexive build-up, maintenance, and restoring of relations (Should the Greeks be saved by our solidarity? Is democracy on a work floor sustainable?)

Before 1 November 2012 (200 words). Accepted abstract authors will be notified a week later. They will be expected to submit the first version of the paper before 1 January 2013. The usual double blind peer review will follow.
