Note from the publisher

Kybernetes in 2003

In 2003, Kybernetes will continue to develop its reputation as the world’s leading journal on cybernetics and systems. We constantly strive to bring you the highest quality content, and the most innovative research from both well-established cyberneticians and systemists and young researchers new to the field.

We are delighted to continue as the official journal of the World Organisation of Systems and Cybernetics, and will do all we can to support their initiatives in 2003 and beyond.

As well as welcoming contributions from researchers in the field, we are always happy to receive feedback from our readers – please do send us your thoughts on how you feel the journal should be developed. Tell us what you like about the journal, and what you do not like – all ideas are happily received by Emerald and the Editorial Team of Kybernetes. We are committed to making this, the best journal it can possibly be.

Special issues in 2003

This double special issue of Kybernetes is the first in a number of special issues planned for the volume. Later in the year, we can expect special issues on:

  • second-order cybernetics

  • reconstructability analysis;

  • new theories about space-time;

  • grey systems theory, methodology and applications.

These issues will be prepared by the Editorial Team with the backing of distinguished Guest Editors.

In addition to special issues, Kybernetes will also, of course, be publishing a number of single issues which will include all of the regular features of the journal.

  • Contemporary Systems and Cybernetics will provide the latest reports and surveys of selected current research and developments in systems and cybernetics.

  • Book Reports and Reviews will continue to be developed to provide the most authoritative coverage of new books, and will concentrate on a wide range of subject areas. All book reviews will be written by experts in the particular fields.

  • The Internet Commentary will provide an insight into developments in systems and cybernetics on the Net.

  • Monitored Announcements and Special Announcements will continue to highlight relevant conferences and dates for your diary, providing the most comprehensive coverage of events in the field.
