Preface

Article Type: Preface From: Kybernetes, Volume 39, Issue 1

In pursuit of this journal’s aim to present multidisciplinary studies in a broad range of topics in cybernetics, systems and management science, Volume 39 will publish ten issues, many of which will be special issues prepared by leaders in their fields, and will contain features included at the request of our readers.

We look forward to special issues and features on model-based management; risks in service; modelling and simulation; computing machinery and intelligence (Turing celebration); as well as a series of research studies that will include novel approaches to system modelling; new techniques on complex systems; and systematic yoyos and their applications. In addition, a special issue is being prepared by the UK Cybernetics Society based on the Proceedings of the 2009 Annual Conference.

Our regular journal issues will continue as usual with features that survey current research and development, comment on cybernetics and systems on the web, and also provide a comprehensive coverage of recently published books.

To keep readers in touch with the various activities of the community of contributors to this journal we will also continue our sections on “News, Conferences and Technical Reports”, together with Announcements concerning global events such as congresses, conferences, lectures and seminars.

Finally, we are reviving the section “Communications and Forum”, which gives contributors the opportunity to publish their views and to communicate short articles or brief reports of research and development endeavours. We would like to encourage all readers to participate and interact with others through this section.
