Reviewers consider the UK and USA versions to be well worth reading. The book consists of 100 miniature chapters covering a whole range of sports topics and how they can be understood and studied using mathematics. Not entirely perhaps, but at least the reader is given considerable help by Barrow. The book will obviously have a great appeal and it does contain some fascinating material. It does need some knowledge of mathematics of course, although the level required varies.

Another book is also of interest on this subject.
